My two projects contain the hexagram group {63, 64}, not by design. I only discovered them after the fact.
The documents in Project 69 can be mapped to the lines of a hexagram.
- Initial Nine: YI 101 is yang because 101 is an odd number.
- Six in the Second Place: YI 102 is yin because 102 is even.
- Nine in the Third Place: Using the eight trigrams as building blocks is mainstream Yi, hence yang.
- Six in the Fourth Place: Using the four digrams as building blocks is anti-establishment, hence yin.
- Nine in the Fifth Place: Confucianism is mainstream, hence yang.
- Six at the Top: Pushing the envelope to include mathematics, physics, chemistry, Buddhism and more is unconventional, hence yin.
The resulting hexagram is 101010 [63] After Completion. The goal of every project is [63].
The documents in Project Hazel can also be mapped to the lines of [63].
- Initial Nine: BAZI 101 is yang because 101 is an odd number.
- Six in the Second Place: BAZI 102 is yin because 102 is even.
- Nine in the Third Place: The four pillars precede the eight characters, hence yang.
- Six in the Fourth Place: The eight characters follow the for pillars, hence yin.
- Nine in the Fifth Place: The triplets are rare/precious, hence yang.
- Six at the Top: Purple Star Astrology is a yin solution of the initial value problem.
The group {63, 64} is special because it is invariant to all the operations that you can think of.
- Start with [63] as the primary hexagram.
- Turn it upside down. You get [64], which is still in the group.
- Flip all the lines. You get [64].
- Turn it upside down and then flip all the lines. The opposite hexagram is [63].
- Strip the initial and top lines and stretch the resulting quadrigram. The nuclear hexagram is [64].
- Interchange the upper and lower trigrams. The isomer is [64].
- Extract the quadrigram and its environment. The quadrigram 1010 is After Completion. The environment that it is on is 10 which is also After Completion.
Ditto if the primary hexagram is [64].
Only one other group of hexagrams is so resilient. That group is {1, 2}.
- Start with [1] as the primary hexagram.
- Turn it upside down. You get [1].
- Flip all the lines. You get [2].
- Turn it upside down and then flip all the lines. The opposite hexagram is [2].
- Strip the initial and top lines and stretch the resulting quadrigram. The nuclear hexagram is [1].
- Interchange the upper and lower trigrams. The isomer is [1].
- Extract the quadrigram and its environment. The quadrigram 1111 is pure yang. The environment that it is on is 11 which is also pure yang.
Ditto if the primary hexagram is [2].
