Seven Kills is a vicious god. It must be contained by a sidekick. The first choice is a seal because a seal serves as an intermediary between Seven Kills and the day master. Here Seven Kills is wood, and her day master is earth. Fire is the intermediary; wood produces fire which in turn produces earth. Then all is well. But the plate has no fire. The second choice is to find the mouths because they control the officials. On this plate, the metals are the mouths that chop wood. There are two mouths in the stems. Both have their roots through the hour branch. The formation is -Official/Mouth or Seven Kills-Mouth.
The plate owner is a high-ranking official, but the official on the plate does not penetrate through the stems. This is puzzling. The oral tradition seems to have a better reading of the plate.
